Exploring Tension in Architectural Rendering
Tension, as a dynamic force, has the power to transform architectural
renderings into captivating narratives that provoke emotion and spark the imagination.
In this competition, MADI students are challenged to harness the essence of tension
within their architectural renderings of Santiago Calatrava’s iconic Science Museum. All
entries should be accompanied by concise explanations of how tension is incorporated
into their composition.
THEME
Tension and Transformation: Expressing Dynamic Forces in Architectural Rendering
OBJECTIVE
The objective of this competition is to challenge participants to express the concept of tension through architectural rendering using various techniques. Participants must demonstrate how tension can be infused into the composition of their renderings to evoke emotional responses and enhance narrative depth. This can be accomplished using a number of techniques from thematic to technical.
PRICE
A paid internship at the Alicante office.
The winner will be selected from the three finalists after an in-depth interview.
GUIDELINES
Conceptual Integration: Participants should select one or more concepts of tension, such as movement, equilibrium, or contrast, and integrate them into their architectural rendering of the Museum. These concepts should serve as the foundation for the composition and narrative development of the rendering.
Composition and Narrative: Entries should feature a cohesive composition that effectively communicates the chosen concept(s) of tension. The rendering should be accompanied by a brief explanation (maximum 150 words) detailing how tension is incorporated into the composition and narrative of the design.
Visual Representation: Participants should employ architectural visualization techniques such as composition, texture, lighting, narrative and color, to create renderings that vividly convey the concept of tension. Attention to detail, composition, lighting, texture, narrative elements, color and atmospheric effects should be utilized to evoke a sense of dynamism and intrigue within the rendering.
Technical Specifications: Renderings should be submitted in 4k resolution, .jpg format
