Paul Hansen is a pioneer in the emerging field of AI x Architectural Imagery, working at the intersection of architecture, visualization, and generative technologies.

His practice is guided by the conviction that architectural imagery is not merely representational, but a medium for exploring, questioning, and shaping design processes.

Paul graduated in 2014 with a degree in Architecture (Dipl.-Ing.) from Leibniz University Hannover and began his career as a 3D artist in 2002.

He has since collaborated with many of the world’s most renowned architectural practices on major international projects, including the Index Tower by Foster + Partners, The Opus by Zaha Hadid Architects, and the 2010 FIFA World Cup Stadiums in Cape Town and Durban by gmp Architekten.

These collaborations have provided him with deep insights into the evolving role of images in design culture. Alongside his professional practice, Paul has contributed significantly to the democratization of generative technologies.

Through a series of state-of-the-art opensource publications, he has developed tools that make cutting-edge methods accessible to a global community of designers and researchers.

His commitment to open knowledge reflects his belief that technological innovation must be shared in order to empower creative practitioners to actively shape the future of their disciplines.

His work has also been featured in The AI Art Magazine (No. 2) in the article “A Collaboration Forged in Code and Canvas”.

Since 2024, Paul has been working independently as both a Teacher and Technical Artist, collaborating with universities, architects, and visualization studios worldwide.

In his teaching, he equips students with the critical and creative skills to engage with emerging technologies, most recently leading a workshop on AI at the MADI in Venice in May 2025.

In the same year, he is appointed to a teaching assignment at the Institute for Architectural Representation and Design (ADE), Faculty of Architecture (Fatuk), RPTU, during the summer semester 2025.

In practice, he supports design teams in integrating these tools seamlessly into their workflows as integral elements of architectural representation and design.
